Limitations compared to VH2000 Gold or VH2000 Lite A very limited Internet presence. No access to visitor log files. No access to site via FTP or telnet. Limited to 30 Mb transfer per month.     (Notification sent when rate exceeded.) No E-Commerce capabilities.

Image. VH2000 clients receive their own Internet "domain" name (e.g. yourcompany.com) so that their address on the web is simple, descriptive and identifiable: www.yourcompany.com. Compare this approach to other services that include their name as part of their network address which leaves you with a web address like http://host2.serviceco.com/~jsmith/www/smithco.

E-Mail. The VH2000 Hold account does not include email. You must already have an email account if you want to receive inquiries via the Request/Comment form included with the VH2000 Hold web site. (See the next paragraph.) When you are ready to upgrade to VH2000 Lite or Gold you can have email addresses based on your domain name. At that time, you will choose mail box names so that your customers can send mail to "Jim" or "Joan" or "CustomerService" at "@yourcompany.com".

Dial-Up
VH2000 Hold clients can buy an account on our 56k dial-up service so they can receive email inquiries from their web site (see previous paragraph). Of course, this high quality dial-up service also allows you to browse the world wide web, or send and receive email to anyone on the internet. The price of $14.95/month is very favorable. Even better, if you prepay for a year, it works out to $12.50/month. For more info on our dial-up service, open the Info Pages folder on the left, then click the Dial-Up folder, then the document Overview.

Custom. VH2000 service is housed on separate servers set up for business users. Each company resides on completely independent web space, called a virtual server, uniquely tailored for each client. VH2000 servers are not mixed as part of other services, such as dial-up Internet access or news-group servers.

Security. VH2000 runs on computers dedicated to this service, with no dial-up or time shared services or other public access. Great attention is paid to keeping the operating software that runs the server and the web hosting up to date with the latest available security "patches." This does not constitute a "Secure Server."

Response. VH2000 has a high-speed connection to the national Internet backbone through the least busy access point in the country.

Reliability. VH2000 is housed in a secure computer room. It utilizes top-of-the-line Cisco routers. We keep offline components as ready spares for the unusual, unplanned event.

Setup. The VH2000 setup procedure includes the following: setting up the initial web server space for your company's web site; registration of your worldwide web name (domain address) with the Internet naming authority; telecommunication configuration for your new network address (called the IP address); Since you will be assigned a "virtual server" separate from any other company's server space, the setup includes the customization of a host web site for your company's domain address.
