VH2000 clients receive their own Internet "domain" name (e.g. yourcompanyname.com) so that their address on the web is simple, descriptive and identifiable, such as: http://www.yourcompanyname.com.. Also included is a mail post office with the same naming convention (see E-mail below). Compare this approach to other services that include their name as part of their network address which leaves you with a web address like http://host2.serviceco.com/~jsmith/www/smithco.

VH2000 service is housed on separate servers set up for business users. Each company resides on completely independent web space, called a virtual server, uniquely tailored for each client. VH2000 servers are not mixed as part of other services, such as dial-up Internet access or news-group servers.

VH2000 clients have a full set of feature in their assigned space on the web server, including Common Gateway Interface (CGI) programming capability which allows you to create custom forms, image-maps, server-side included text, data storage or retrieval, etc. As part of this package, you are also provided with password protected access to FTP and TELNET protocols for programming tools and custom development. The Perl language is available for sophisticated programming if required.

VH2000 Gold clients can add an account on our 56k dial-up service so they can maintain their sites (see previous paragraph) or browse the world wide web. The price of $14.95/month is very favorable. Even better, if you prepay for a year, it works out to $12.50/month. VH2000 clients have continuous access to their own log files. This data about visits to your web site is not mixed with visit data for other companies in the VH2000 program. The records are in a standard format that allows you to use any of the commercial or public domain web analysis programs to profile the activity at your web site. On the other hand, a web-hit analysis report is sent to you once each month as part of the VH2000 service if all you need is a basic report. This free report will include statistical distribution by geography or hierarchy (i.e. company, university), and profile the time-of-day and day-of-week when your site is visited. You even get the details, which you can use to find out how often a page was viewed.

VH2000 clients can use up to 100 Mb disk space, with additional data storage available for a nominal monthly fee. Routine system backup is maintained.

VH2000 web sites can transfer up to 1Gb per month with additional data transfer levels available for a nominal monthly fee.

The mail service to your company's Internet address includes up to 45 unique e-mail addresses. Now your customers can send mail to yourcompanyname.com, for example: sales@smithco.com, or president@smithco.com, or joe.s@smithco.com. You use your account password to access web pages that help you manage the assignment of usernames at your company-specific mail address. VH2000 runs on computers dedicated to this service, with no dial-up or time shared services or other public access. Great attention is paid to keeping the operating system and web server software up to date with the latest available security "patches".

When you are ready for e-commerce, your VH2000 web account is ready to provide secure web pages and encrypted data exchanges with your customers. VH2000 maintains the necessary security certification on a separate server. For ease of development, the secure files are available to you as if it were part of your VH2000 web account space. Note: only pages handling confidential information should be put on the secure server, since it is somewhat slower than the non-secure server.

The computers and telecommunications circuits are monitored and capacity is added based on a plan tied to growth in activity.

VH2000 accounts can support Microsoft FrontPage server extensions, which provide for remote authoring and site management. This web page authoring software is available for both the Intel and Macintosh PCs. FrontPage can be obtained as a free basic version or a full featured package can be purchased. Most web authoring software can be used in place of FrontPage with some limitations on custom or advanced features.

VH2000 has a high-speed connection to the national Internet backbone through the least busy access point in the country.

VH2000 is housed in a secure computer room with very stable power, phone, and Internet connections. It utilizes top-of-the-line Cisco routers, and its own redundant host computers. We keep offline components as ready spares for the unusual, unplanned event.

The VH2000 setup procedure includes the following: setting up the initial web server space for your company's web site; a computer account through which you maintain the web pages and programs (using ftp & telnet from any Internet access point); start-up of a new post office; registration of your worldwide web name (domain address) with the Internet naming authority; telecommunication configuration for your new network address (called the IP address); establishing separate log file and secure-server connections. Since you will be assigned a "virtual server" separate from any other company's server space, the setup includes the customization of a host web site for you company's domain address. If you already have a registered company name, we will submit the paper work to request transfer to the VH2000 server.
